Refunds & Returns Policy

Effective: 2020

At Central Computers Warehouse, we strive to ensure that every customer receives quality products and exceptional service. This Refunds & Returns Policy outlines your rights and our procedures for returns, exchanges, repairs, and refunds.

This policy is intended to comply with the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002 (ECTA). Nothing in this policy limits your rights under South African law.

1. Return Eligibility

Products may be returned if:

The item is defective or develops a manufacturing fault within the applicable warranty period.

  • You received the incorrect product.
  • The product was damaged during delivery.
  • The product is materially different from what was ordered.

To process a return, you must provide:

  • Proof of purchase (invoice or receipt).
  • The original packaging where reasonably possible.
  • All accessories, manuals, cables, and bundled items included with the purchase.

2. Defective Products

If a product is found to be defective within six (6) months of purchase due to a manufacturing defect or failure under normal use, you may choose one of the following remedies:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Refund

Products will first be inspected by our technical team or the manufacturer to verify the fault.

Damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, liquid damage, power surges, unauthorized repairs, software issues, viruses, or normal wear and tear is not covered.

3. Dead on Arrival (DOA)

Products that arrive faulty must be reported within 7 days of delivery or collection.

Once verified, we will arrange either:

  • A replacement (subject to stock availability), or
  • A full refund, where applicable.

4. Incorrect or Damaged Deliveries

If you receive the wrong item or an item damaged during transit:

  • Notify us within 12 hours of receiving your order.
  • Do not install or use the product.
  • Keep all original packaging.

We will arrange collection and provide the correct product or a refund where appropriate.

5. Online Order Cooling-Off Period

For qualifying online purchases, customers may cancel an order within the cooling-off period provided by applicable South African legislation.

Returned goods must:

  • Be unused.
  • Be in their original packaging.
  • Be complete with all accessories.

Reasonable handling or collection charges may apply where permitted by law.

6. Change of Mind Returns

Because many of our products are electronic devices, software, consumables, and technology products, we generally do not accept returns where:

  • The customer ordered the wrong item.
  • The customer no longer wants the product.
  • The customer purchased an incompatible product after receiving correct specifications or advice.

However, at our discretion, unopened products in brand-new condition may be accepted within 7 days of purchase.

Approved returns may be subject to a reasonable handling or restocking fee.

7. Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned unless defective:

  • Opened software licences or digital downloads.
  • Activated Microsoft Office or Windows licences.
  • Ink cartridges, toner cartridges, and consumables that have been opened.
  • Custom-built computers.
  • Special-order products.
  • Products specifically ordered for a customer.
  • Products damaged through misuse or negligence.

8. Warranty Claims

Manufacturer warranties remain subject to the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.

Warranty periods differ between products.

Customers may be required to allow reasonable testing and diagnostic procedures before a repair, replacement, or refund is approved.

9. Refund Process

Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method wherever possible.

Refund processing normally takes 5–10 business days after approval, depending on your bank or payment provider.

Cash purchases may be refunded in cash or via EFT at our discretion.

10. Return Shipping

If the return is due to:

A defective product, incorrect shipment, our error, Central Computers Warehouse will cover the reasonable return shipping costs.

If the return is due to customer error, including ordering the incorrect item or compatibility issues, the customer is responsible for all shipping costs.
